Faculty position available, Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenured faculty position in musculoskeletal tissue engineering, with emphasis on cellular genetics, biochemistry, biomechanics, and/or biomaterials. The candidate will join our exciting research environment, maintain an energetic and well-funded research program, and engage in teaching and training of graduate and undergraduate students. The Biomedical Engineering department is housed both in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Medicine, which readily facilitates collaborative and translational research. The position entails a secondary appointment in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, and candidates will serve as Orthopedic Surgery’s Director of Research. Candidates with exceptional academic accomplishments will also be eligible for an Endowed Chair. Responsibilities will include leading the overall development and expansion of research programs, mentoring faculty and post-doctoral personnel, overseeing educational symposia and basic science lectures to foster research collaboration and educate trainees, and directing financial and other administrative functions. Rank, tenure status and compensation are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
